The Hyter electrolyzer gets into operation at Straubing (Germany)
01 April 2024 - Corporate, ProjectsOn 28 July 2022, work started on the installation of a dedicated solution from MicroPyros BioEnerTec, Hyter, Biokomp and Pietro Fiorentini at the wastewater treatment plant in Straubing (Germany).
All the companies involved in the design, construction and installation of the project are part of the Pietro Fiorentini Group, the main promoter of a research and experimentation system for biomethanisation that is unique in Europe, thanks to which it will be possible to create gas mixtures on site and to have a direct feed of biogas from the digesters of the sewage treatment plant.
The main objective of the Straubing biomethanation plant is to investigate and experiment with biological methanation processes from various sources, in particular biogas and syngas.
Today, the construction and installation of the project is a reality.
Hyter has commissioned its Rigel M8 electrolyser with a capacity of 8 Nm3/h, designed to produce up to twice as much, thus initiating medium-scale experimentation by MicroPyros, also a Fiorentini group company.
The electrolytic cell with anion exchange membrane water electrolyser technology (AEMWE) enables the conversion of energy into hydrogen gas. This is a choice that ensures a number of important technical and environmental advantages, as well as a reduction in plant management costs.
Future plans involve regular and, where necessary, extraordinary maintenance, requiring the intervention of a team with similar technical skills on site.
